The Challenge

Huggg is a B2B gifting platform, and following seed funding, the business was looking to scale its remote-first Product and Engineering team during a key growth phase focused on platform scalability, automation and AI adoption.

Working directly with the Founder and VP Product, Burns Sheehan supported Huggg to hire two Senior Full Stack Engineers and a B2B Product Manager.

Key challenges included competing with larger brands on salary and visibility, identifying engineers who were both technically strong and genuinely startup-minded, and ensuring every candidate shortlisted was worth Huggg's limited interview capacity.

Burns Sheehan ran a targeted passive search for pragmatic, product-minded engineers — people who could solve real problems cleanly, integrate AI into their workflows, and thrive in a high-ownership, fast-moving environment.

Shortlists were small and highly curated, assessed on technical capability, communication, and long-term cultural fit. This kept Huggg's interview load to a minimum while maintaining a consistently high bar.
