Product Leadership in Practice

The problems nobody teaches you to solve

Product leadership rarely comes with a playbook.

From managing competing stakeholder priorities and proving Product’s commercial value, to scaling teams, navigating Product and Engineering ownership and working out where AI genuinely adds value, some of the hardest challenges are the ones you have to figure out while doing the job.

On Thursday 12th November, we’re bringing together a small group of Heads of Product and Product Directors for a different kind of leadership session.

No panels. No presentations. Just real Product leadership challenges, worked through with your peers.

How it works

Before the session, we’ll ask everyone attending to submit one of the biggest Product leadership challenges they’re facing right now.

We’ll use these to shape the agenda and group the strongest themes into breakout discussions. In small groups, you’ll work through real challenges, share what you’ve tried in your own business, hear how others are approaching similar problems and explore what has, and hasn’t, worked.

We’ll then bring everyone back together to share the strongest ideas, different perspectives and practical takeaways from each discussion.

Bring a challenge. Join a breakout. Solve it together. Leave with practical ideas.

What could we tackle?

The agenda will be shaped by the people in the room, but discussions could include:

  • Scaling Product teams: People, structure and impact

  • AI in practice: Moving from ideas to genuine Product value

  • Prioritisation and trade-offs: Maintaining focus without falling into feature creep

  • Stakeholder alignment: Building influence and securing buy-in

  • Commercial impact: Connecting Product success to business results

  • Product and Engineering: Navigating ownership, accountability and ways of working

Who is it for?

This session is designed for Heads of Product and Product Directors, particularly leaders dealing with the challenges that come with growing teams, increasing responsibility and having greater influence across the business.

The aim is simple: come with a real problem and leave with practical ideas you can take back into your business.

Session facilitator

The discussion will be facilitated by Matthew Gerry, Product Director at Blue Light Card, helping guide the breakouts and bring the different ideas and experiences from the room together.

Spaces are limited to keep the session small, practical and genuinely interactive. Reach out to Louise Smith, Senior Director & Head of Product to secure your seat.
