There were plenty of tech recruitment agencies in London to choose from when I was looking to start my career in Recruitment two years ago, but I gravitated towards Burns Sheehan as I loved finding out more about their events and how they built their network. I joined Burns Sheehan in the Summer of 2021 as a Graduate Technology Recruiter and within 7 months, I was promoted to Senior Technology Recruiter.

Throughout my career at Burns Sheehan, I have grown more aware of the need for DEI advocates in the tech community. Burns Sheehan has helped me to recognise the importance of my contribution, which has resulted in me becoming an active member of the Future Leadership Programme team, specialising in matching female engineers and leaders to help more women break into tech leadership.

I also organise a Women In Tech Leadership roundtable event series, which serve as a quarterly meetup for like-minded, female Engineering Leaders. The primary objective of this event is to encourage all attendees to foster an environment that promotes a more inclusive and equal approach to hiring in the tech world.

I started my recruitment career over in Australia and then in New Zealand where I was completely bought into the people side of the role and face to face meetings. I knew when I moved back to the UK that I wanted to work for a company that put the same emphasis on relationships and service that I’d experienced overseas, but a lot of the companies I interviewed with didn’t seem to value this over other KPI’s and I was sceptical about whether I’d find the right company for me.

I was drawn to Burns Sheehan because the entire fabric of the business has been built on relationships. We’re always encouraged to be memorable by getting out and meeting people face to face. One of the best things about Burns Sheehan is that you get rewarded for your hard work. I started as a Graduate in 2016 and have since had five promotions to get me to my current role. I also just love the culture here - everybody is a genuinely nice person.

You also get a lot of opportunities if you put in the work. I’ve had the opportunity to work on-site as part of an Embedded Model at a couple of companies. It’s great to have that exposure from the client-side of things and be trusted to lead on those projects.

Since joining Burns Sheehan in 2022, I have been given the opportunity to not only grow my knowledge and expertise in the marketing field but also lead on multiple initiatives including newsletters, events, & media campaigns.

I've been given the autonomy to manage projects across London and Manchester which has not only provided me with great exposure to the tech industry and networking opportunities but also a good excuse for frequent trips up to visit the Manchester team in their office.

My proudest moment to date would be leading my first large-scale tech event up in Manchester where I managed the event organising, email campaigns, social media advertising, digital assets, video editing & post-event analysis.
