Commercial Analyst/BI Data Analyst

- Salary: £40,000-£50,000

- Location: Spinningfields office located close to tram links and local parking

- Flex: Hybrid working/one day a week with option to work more in the office when needed

Are you someone with great attention to detail looking for your next data role in Manchester?

This is the chance to join a lean, growing business and be a key decision maker within the team working closely with senior stakeholders to help drive company growth by producing recommendations, analysis and reports. The team sits at the centre of the business being a key player in driving innovation.

You will join a small team of currently 3 with a view to helping grow out this area. Someone who has the ability to develop and build PowerBI reports from scratch is essential.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have:

  • Strong attention to detail skills
  • Excellent data and statistical analysis skills
  • Experience of building reports using software, preferably PowerBI
  • Experience of writing code using software such as SAS, SQL, R or Python

Job responsibilities:

  • Production of business analysis reports
  • Ad hoc project work providing analysis to the business
  • Write new analysis code using various software packages
  • Produce timely and accurate information for management decision-making purposes
  • Analyse business issues to find solutions to and make recommendations to improve profitability
  • Present findings and results in a clear and logical manner and produce written reports


Skills & Experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems
  • Excellent data and statistical analysis skills
  • Experience of building reports using software such as PowerBI
  • Strong IT skills (including Excel and ideally programming skills)
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong background in statistical methods
  • Experience of programming and advanced statistical techniques
  • Desirable: Good knowledge of the general insurance industry.
  • Good degree in a numerical undergraduate discipline
