The Company

This company were established in 2005 and are principally a challenger bank and fintech peer-to-peer lender looking to disrupt the out-of-date and inefficient high street banks. They have built their business on honesty, transparency and trust; and are now expanding their services and products to empower their customers to better manage their money. As of last year, they launched a different type of bank to do just that.

The Team

The Engineering team is composed of 19 quads on 20 crucial projects across open banking, personal finance, microservice projects etc. At the heart of this is the centralised SRE team which is their business-critical platform team which reaches across the whole of engineering.

The SRE team is responsible for helping to remove inefficiencies in the way the company use (or don't use) technology to drive value for the business. Automating consistently, helping to design and support the various technology infrastructure to help the company grow. Both in their self-hosted datacentres and AWS.

Tech Stack: Golang (Domain language), AWS, bringing in GCP, Linux 100%, Docker, Kubernetes, Hashicorp stack (Terraform, Packer etc), scripting with Shell/Bash, Kafka.

The Role

There are currently 12 on the SRE team and have now created the brand-new Data Reliability Engineer position to sit with this team and heavily work with Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Development Engineers. You will be increasing scalability, reliability, flexibility and security to their data infrastructure.

You will also design, build and automate the CI/CD pipelines for the big data related projects. Finally, you will work to develop and own the big data platform with an "infrastructure as code" approach.

This is 90% SRE role but maintaining and taking ownership for the data pipelines.

What you will need to join the SRE team:

  • Strong Experience in scripting (Python, Golang, Bash etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Terraform
  • Automation and cloud implementation tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins etc.)
  • Cloud agnostic mentality
  • Monitoring and alerting knowledge
  • Linux Administration
  • A keen interest in data and fundamentals in SRE tooling and reliability engineering
  • Any previous experience maintaining data pipelines or big data related projects is a plus but not essential.

What you will get in return

  • Exposure at a company where technology is at the heart of everything they do.
  • Greenfield projects
  • 10% bonus
  • WFH - flexible working mentality
  • Share options
  • Central London location
  • 25 days holidays
  • Chance to relocate to one of their international offices
