Platform Engineer / Manchester & remote / up to £60,000
(office in central Manchester, expect to visit around once per week)
One of Manchester's most innovative software houses is looking to expand its platform engineering capability by hiring a new Platform Engineer. Reporting in to the head of platform, you'd be the senior engineer in a team of four. Your primary task from day one would be to look after the AWS platform their security product exclusively uses.
Engineers must be fluent with Linux (ideally Centos/RHEL) and have a good understanding of configuration management and Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Puppet, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible. You'll help ensure their platform is highly available, scalable and can cope with growth with minimal interaction as well undertaking project work to help improve the environment. Engineers will regularly interact with our development team, building infrastructure to support their requirements.
Any experience working with big data related tools such as Kafka and Elasticsearch would be highly beneficial. A broad overview of the tech you'll be working with looks something like this:
- Cloud infrastructure and applications in AWS
- Infrastructure as Code
- Serverless and container technologies along with their management
