Linux Systems Administrator for an Oscar, BAFTA and Emmy Award Winning Feature Film Visual Effects House

The Company

This is a brand new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join the expanding team at a cutting edge, international feature film post-production house. Two Linux System Administrators will join a small team that will define and own the Linux ecosystem worldwide.

Put simply, the company are award-winning world players in the post-production film industry having previously won Oscar, BAFTA and Emmy awards in recent years. They have just moved to brand new offices spaced out over seven floors including a rooftop terrace, social spaces, and "jumbo" sized kitchen with plans to build an in-house cinema in the near future. The Linux Systems Administrator will help lead the continuous progression of the company's core Linux OS ecosystem; evolving how they organise, sustain, and support this critical layer.

The Role

As a Linux Systems Administrator you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining, developing and documenting our Linux OS, including Global repository management of mirrored upstream repos and internal packages
  • You will pay off their technical debt and then maintain the system
  • Managing the configuration of thousands of devices across multiple classes
  • Change/ release management lifecycles

You will be encouraged to propose and lead projects that will advance the technology framework. This includes elements of project management, communication across departments and sites, and the delegation of tasks and coordination of schedules

Requirements

It is essential that as a Linux Systems Administrator you will have experience in the following areas:

  • 5+ years' experience with system administration of Linux operating systems (preferably familiarity with CentOS 7)
  • Use of Orchestration/ Configuration Management tools, ideally Puppet (Chef or Ansible will also be considered)
  • Prior Experience in an architectural role and someone who understands the best practices

Preferably you will have:

  • Experience of Cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Azure.
  • Interest in the industry
  • Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (Bash, Ruby, Python)
