Role: Linux System Administrator

Location: Manchester city centre start-up

Salary:£35,000 - £40,000 + benefits

I am working with a fledgling start-up business based in the heart of Manchester. They are in the process of disrupting the VoIP market in the UK and beyond and as part of their growth plans they're looking for a bright, motivated Linux System Administrator. This is a key hire for the team, and the successful candidate will get to dabble in a wide range of fresh projects. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting, fresh technology and shape the direction of a leading start-up in Manchester.

Working out of offices in the city centre, you will help maintain flexible, robust servers that support the telephony needs of tens of thousands of customers. The business is technologically savvy, utilising the latest development frameworks and tech hardware.

What's so great about this business?

It's a great place to work with a grown up working culture, flexible and remote working and all the usual perks you've come to expect from a modern technology company - private health-care, a generous matched pension, perk box, etc. You'll receive a highly competitive basic salary and the business also offers share options to its people.

There is a real scope for someone to join the company and shake things up. They are looking for people who can identify weaknesses in existing processes and has the confidence to come up with a better way of doing things. Fancy taking on the challenge?

What do you need to bring to the table?

- high level knowledge and experience with Linux

- strong knowledge of automation tools i.e. Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible

- scripting ability with JavaScript and/or Java would be beneficial, as would exposure to Python/Bash/Ruby

- good understanding of network security and current/future potential threats

- a working knowledge of AWS would also be preferable

If you're interested and would like to know more about the role, click Apply and John from Burns Sheehan will be in touch before you know it. Or within the same working day. Whichever is slower.

Burns Sheehan Ltd will consider applications based only on skills and ability and will not discriminate on any grounds.
