Technical Architect | Digital Transformation | Birmingham

Working as a Technical Architect on a large scale digital transformation project. Technically defining the project using open source technologies.

  • Birmingham, UK
  • Up to £80k, + bonus & wider benefits package
  • Permanent
  • Digital transformation, cloud migration, software development.

Looking for an opportunity to work on large scale digital transformation projects?

Perhaps you're looking to work with the latest open source technologies?

Maybe you want to work for a company that would you allow you flexibility in your work environment?

How about all the above and more…

If you can agree with the following statements, it's worth you reading on;

  • You love simplicity in your designs.
  • You have an appreciation for all teams when creating your designs.
  • You want to help others to grow and develop their careers.
  • You think that open source is better to closed.
  • You want to work for a company that will invest heavily in your personal training and development.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Everything you've read above; working with the latest opensource technologies, helping others to develop their careers (as well as your own!), creating simple technical solutions, working with diverse technical teams to deliver full solutions.
  • Working on the design and delivery of multi-tiered software applications for large scale transformation projects.
  • Technically owning a product or software project; everything from the architecture through to product planning.
  • Working on cloud integration or migration projects (including AWS and Azure).

Experience you'll need for the role:

  • A successful career in software development, ideally with experience in using open source technologies (Java experience would be a huge advantage). They want someone who knows how to design because they know how to build.
  • Strong software architecture experience. At least a couple of years so you aren't feeling out of your depth.
  • Commercial acumen. Yes, this solution might help, but is it driving value?
  • Excellent communication skills. You will be speaking to all levels of the business, from Junior Developers to the CIO on a daily basis. You have to be able to hold your own.
  • Experience with cloud based technology (AWS or Azure) would be a big advantage.

What's in it for you?

  • A non-corporate, "grown up" work place where you won't be micromanaged
  • The opportunity to have a real impact on key projects
  • A long list of benefits with everything that you would wish for; healthcare, medical, pension etc.
  • A yearly allowance that you can spend on whatever training you want (this could even include golf, cookery or piano lessons!)
  • Flexible working hours
  • Working from home
  • Out of work interests, for example working with a charity? You get extra days off to pursue something that you care about.
