Software Engineering Lead - We are working with a prestigious global company with millions of customers around the world as they embark on a new key strategic initiative. They are looking to hire a hands-on Software Engineering Lead who will help build and lead a new software engineering function from a technical perspective.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Software Engineering Lead and their team will collaborate with Architects, Product Owners and the wider business to build a brand new scalable, robust and secure platform.

What will the Software Engineering Lead do and who will you be?

  • You will be the technical lead for two back end engineering teams, fostering an autonomous culture whilst collaborating with the other engineering teams (front end and data), Architects, Product Owners and the wider business to design and build a highly available, Cloud-Native platform on a microservices architecture.
  • You must have a passion for evangelising software engineering best practices - DevOps (CI/CD), automation and Agile (TDD/BDD) - and keen to develop and build these skills within your team through collaboration, pairing and leading by example.
  • The role is a hands-on so, as well as driving architectural decisions and best practices, you will also be coding so need to be an excellent hands-on coder. It would be preferable for you to have excellent knowledge of building microservices/APIs using Java as well as a good understanding of many other modern technologies like AWS/Lambdas, Docker/Kubernetes, DynamoDB, Postgres, Auth0, Terraform.
  • The Software Engineering Lead will be vital to building the software engineering culture in the team and the wider technology function, so you will need to be an outstanding communicator.
