What are they looking for?

  • You will be responsible for personal development for the teams, helping their career pathways. They are looking for someone who loves management and who is extremely passionate about helping people.
  • You'll be driving teams to work in the most efficient ways. They need someone who has been through challenging situations and who can engineer solutions to get through them in the best way.
  • You'll be driving best practices, so they need you to understand what these are.
  • The role is working closely with delivery and test teams and so they need someone who can look at the big picture objectives for the company and who can then work cross-functionally with other teams.
  • The role is managing across a Java tech stack, so knowledge of Java and open source frameworks is key.

The role is a mix of;

  • Vision and strategy - working with the Directors and wider Senior Management team with the overall vision for projects and platforms across the business.
  • Project delivery and implementation - delivering on various key programmes and projects from design through to completion.
  • People management - managing a sizeable team across 2 squads. Mentoring and coaching teams of junior and experienced developers.
  • Technical - supporting the team in the development of their technical skills.
  • Process improvement - helping to move towards a more agile way of working, implementing new technologies, training and upskilling people etc.
