Burns Sheehan was born.

It was set up by Sean Burns and Jon Sheehan (it took them ages to come up with the name) to offer a welcome alternative. To really shake up the recruitment landscape, with a pioneering spirit running alongside truly refreshing integrity.

06

Our first in-house project.

Jon worked on-site in partnership with Rightmove to set up their preferred supplier list, with incredible success. This was the start of a brilliant relationship with Rightmove which continues to this day.

11

The start of our tech events programme.

We hosted our first tech event, ‘The Evolution of Agile’, in front of more than 250 people. This kicked off our world-class tech events programme, and we’ve since run more than 100.

This was also the year of our first annual team ski trip, but that’s for a whole other timeline…

12

Our Advisory Board got some A-list entries.

  • Nick McKittrick, Co-Founder and former CEO of Rightmove
  • Trevor Mather, Former CEO of Autotrader and ThoughtWorks
  • Neil Munn, Former Global CEO of advertising agency BBH.

Jon and Sean both read the book ‘Good to Great’ by Jim Collins this year too – which would lay the foundations for our world class ambitions. A defining moment for the business.

16

Hello Manchester.

In response to the incredible growth of the digital and technology industries in the north of England, we opened our Manchester office, led by Chris McGowan. Now it’s a buzzing team of 10, and still growing…

18

Exciting new investment.

We received an investment from Advisory Board members Nick and Trevor, which opened up new opportunities for growth – and powered the next exciting chapter of our business.

20

A year of change.

Covid hit, and we quickly adapted to a new way of working – and we continue to embrace this flexible, hybrid style.

We also launched the first series of our successful podcast, The Start-Up Diaries’. The show features leaders from some of the UK’s most innovative and exciting start-ups – and is going from strength to strength.

22

Looking to the future.

We launched our Futures Programme, a mentoring scheme to help inspire and accelerate the learning environment for the Future Leaders in the Technology community.

We also celebrated a huge milestone - 18 years as a business! So in true Burns Sheehan fashion, we threw a huge party to celebrate.

And we’re growing! We really are the busiest we’ve ever been, and are hiring across all tech specialisms – so we’re looking for passionate and like-minded people to join us on our journey. Want to join us? Check out our open roles…
