Following the opening of our Manchester office earlier this year, our team in the North has gone from strength to strength. We’ve grown from one person to three…and counting! This is a testament to the incredible hard work of the team, along with the rapidly expanding Tech and Digital job market in the Manchester area.

Burns Sheehan are recruiting a number of roles, across several disciplines in Manchester and the surrounding areas. You can check them out on our website, or connect with us on Twitter and LinkedIn for live updates.

I caught up with the Manchester team to find out what they love about living, working and recruiting in one of the UK’s fastest growing cities.

What's your favourite thing about living in Manchester?

I moved up here earlier this year after years of living in London. The people are very friendly and chatty – a far cry from the heads down commuter vibe in London.  The city has an amazing buzz, great bars and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. Also I don’t have to get the Tube anymore which is a blessing!

What makes it different from London?

Everything is easier, less stressful and cheaper! Manchester has a slower, friendlier and more relaxed pace of life.

What's your view of the tech job market in Manchester?

It's booming! Manchester has always had a strong connection to technology and has more recently become a real hub for all things Digital. A huge number of well-established companies are setting up digital teams in Manchester, and there is also a very healthy start up scene based around the Northern Quarter. Based on the people I’ve worked with so far, I couldn’t recommend it more highly as a location to consider for people feeling disillusioned with the London life!

What's your favourite thing about living in Manchester?

I've lived here for 9 years, so I don’t know if I have a specific "favourite" thing. If I had to pick one, it would be the people. Mancunians are such lovely people. Most of my friends are Mancunians, so I have to say that.

What makes it different from London?

It's not as busy or big as London, however is has just as many lot of cool places to eat, drink and go out.

What's your view of the tech job market in Manchester?

The tech market in Manchester is thriving. With the likes of the BBC and other large organisations coming up here, and the affordability of cost of living, it means that there is a growing client and candidate base.  We are seeing a massive increase in the start-ups scene, which will mean more and more business for us, and more jobs for tech-driven professionals looking to get their teeth in to some exciting things! The market will only continue to grow. I think the fact Manchester is becoming a much nicer place to live and that's (hopefully) being seen UK wide, more people are happy to move here.

What's your favourite thing about living in Manchester?

Manchester is a diverse city and it has So much to offer! I live in Didsbury and I love it there. A small village just outside of the city with excellent restaurants and bars known as the 'Chelsea of the North'. I have a great work-life balance, and you get much more for your money than you would if you lived in London.

What's your view of the tech job market in Manchester?

The Tech Market is growing, changing and evolving! We are constantly learning about new technologies being introduced, and the tech landscape is an exciting place for anyone looking for a challenge.
