Chances are, you already know the answer to these questions off the top of your head. Probably not because you're a geography fanatic, but because you, much like the rest of the population, now sleep, think and breathe online virtual quiz questions. Whilst COVID19 may be taking over the world, virtual quizzes are taking over our free time.
Social distancing has provided many challenges for all. Not being able to see loved ones, socialise, or (until recently) even be able to leave the house more than once a day. But if there's one thing that has become prevalent throughout this difficult time, it's that the British certainly persevere, and there is very little that will prevent us from enjoying some home comforts such as the experience of a pub quiz. If we can’t be at the pub, we'll bring the pub home!
Whilst we may not be able to spend time together physically, it's become increasingly clear over the last 2 months that distance truly does make the heart grow fonder. With people spending more time socialising with loved ones than ever in the form of video calls and virtual quizzes. Stories, pictures and videos of zoom calls have taken social media by storm and have replaced the classic out for a drink or food pictures we would usually expect to see from people meeting up.
But this new phase isn't just confined to the sphere of people's personal life. Businesses and organisations alike are hosting internal quizzes amongst employees to boost morale and keep company spirits high in such a challenging time. Lunch time quizzes are replacing the usual catch up at the kettle or over lunch and helping to keep the social bonds that glue a business together alive. Friday afternoon drinks at the pub might not be on the cards anymore, but a Friday afternoon quiz is a much appreciated substitute. Plus, is far less expensive - silver lining!
What's even more heart-warming to see is people using their free time to host these quizzes in order to fund-raise for charities who've taken a big hit during this pandemic, with the cancellation of hundreds of fundraising events. Organisations and even individuals sitting at home are hosting quizzes, along with a variety of other activities, in order to help fund the charity sector in this time. What we may have previously spent on entry and transport to a night out, we can now spend on entry to a virtual night of quiz master fun, all whilst still sitting in the comfort of our slippers.
